The First Generation/Low Income (FGLI) Community initiative was created through a partnership between the Yale College Dean’s Office and the Yale Center for Teaching and Learning in Fall 2018. The initiative offers social, institutional, and academic support for students who identify as first in their families to go to college and/or students who identify as from low-income communities.
As part of the initiative, we offer 2 nights of programming every week in the Yale Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). On Monday nights we offer discussion and hangout time with the FGLI Student Ambassadors, where students can discuss their experiences as FGLI students at Yale. On Thursday nights we offer a curated series of Academic Strategies workshops led by Academic Strategies Mentors who also identify as FGLI.
